Running free test copy of Defraggler, and it crashes my system

i start defraggler, and it crashes almost instantly. it analayses ok, but the defrag part doesnt.

to be fair, my system will crash if i dont run CCleaner and restart the computer every other day.

but i tried cleaning everything with a fresh restart, crashes

i tried running regular windows defrag, and it runs ok, but only finds 1%, not the 9% defraggler indicates.

i ran the quick defraggler, and it runs fine.

but when i try to cleanup the last 8%, it crashes.

the largest file is 2.7 megs.

not sure if there is a file somewhere that will give me some insights.

i have and use an antivirus, etc (Norton 360), so that isnt it.

thanks

PS: i thought to use the defrag file by file. that works fine. i defragged some filed individually, max .2 meg. so far so good. maybe its the one large file?

Is your drive dying?

Along with what Nergal mentioned in the above post It would be good to run a tool like Speccy to see the S.M.A.R.T. status of that hard disk. Then again faulty/corrupt system RAM can also cause crashes, so that would also need tested using something like Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic (should already be included in newer versions of Windows) - preferably running the Extended Tests it provides.
