rundll32.exe freeze in Windows XP

Hi!

My system with Windows XP is not operational after CCleaner execution.

ProcessExplorer utility (SystemInternals) presents rundll32.exe process in freeze state with line command "RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 16" or "RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 32".

I need help about this issue.

Thanks!

Looks like there's a problem with deleting the IE history.

Are you able to clear out IE history via the browser itself and see if that makes any difference.

Here is a link which may explain things a bit clearer.

However deleting IE histtory doesn't usually cause ccleaner to freeze a system.

Is IE the browser you use?

Hi!

My browser is Internet Explorer version 8.

When I use the option of proper Internet Explorer I very often occur the freeze of the process rundll32.exe.

My option was to use the CCleaner to avoid this.

It fails reported can be related of the concurrency of scanner engine of my antivirus tool (McAfee)?

Thanks!

CCLeaner now uses IE's inbuilt removal techniques, as has been true for many versions now, however this change may be why previous version would act as a work around.

If you have your Windows XP installation CD or the setup files stored on the hard disk you could try refreshing the system dllcache with correct and clean Microsoft versions, this can sometimes fix crashes/errors:

1. Insert the Windows XP install CD into your CD/DVD drive.

2. Click Start, Run, and type in: sfc /purgecache

3. Click Start, Run, and type in: sfc /scannow

4. After System File Checker has finished restart your computer.
