I think Blackberry is pretty much dead. Too little too late.
Only people I see holding on to blackberry phones are corporations and even many of those are moving to android/ios. I actually don't think I've seen a blackberry in public in over a year(maybe longer). I see tons of iphones and galaxy s3 everywhere daily.

I have been using one now for a while and I love it. Best balance of computer stuff and phone stuff I have seen, and better security than any, if you can believe what you read. . .actually none of the reviewers disagree about that, some just don't think is is as important as others. I'm not informed enough to know.
But it is true that the game is getting away from them. Hope they can hold their own.
And most important, the lady on Blackberry has a more pleasant voice than Siri.
I have nothing against blackberry, I just think they have been outpaced by their competition. I will definitely go to an att or verizon store and play with their new phone once its out but I would never switch. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S3(traded iphone 5... bad decision) and even though I dislike it I wouldn't go to blackberry. IOS and Android have a user base that is large enough to support a huge ecosystem and blackberry currently does not. I easily switched from IOS to Android because the apps I require were on both. I'm not convinced blackberry is going to be able to catch up to this. Windows phone is having the same issue.
I know blackberry is doing some android virtualization. If they can make is completely seamless than it will definitely help but I'm skeptical. They tried the same thing with their tablet and that thing was dead on arrival.

i'm with rridgely, about 2 years ago I saw a lot of people in the corporate sector, white collar professionals, all ditch their blackberry's in favour of iphones.
and they all told me they loved their BB's but love the iphone more.
(can't remember the reason they said they switched, but it was very obvious, in the space of about a month)
come across my first BB this week I've seen in more than a year.
it's like nokia, I remember when every second phone you saw was a nokia, but now, I can't remember the last time I saw anyone with one.

Yeah, but the Blackberry has more buttons. Thats real important.
And they have some new setup for keeping the user's personal stuff separate from the corporate stuff which is controllable by the IT section.
I'm not a fanboy for any product, software or hardware, and have no financial interest in any of them, but I just like this Blackberry.
I think the iphone is a fashion trend, not a well reasoned choice.
And did I mention the Blackberry lady's voice?

Think of it like a US power adapter for a UK device. Same stuff goes in, same stuff comes. It just changes it in the middle.

As much as I hate to say it, building Android's application layer on the Java runtime was a brilliant idea. The apk file literally contains Java byte code, which can be executed on any Java Virtual Machine implementation.
