Right Click Problem

Can someone explain/help me with a frustrating problem?

I?m working on 2 pc's at work, same build, similar software etc.

The problem is when I use explorer. I use folder view, as you look at the screen in the right window I?ve got folder and files. Normally I would double click the folders and it would open them, but that doesn?t happen, it open the search box. When I right click, search is the first option. My other PC explorer is first.

How the heck did this happen I don?t know, but I?d love to have explorer as the first option again, how do I do it. I can't get into the registry as the PC is locked down to the admin guys only, so that's out I'm afraid. <_<

i've had a similar problem. Microsoft just isn't very good at solving bugs. anyways, my problem happened when i replaced the folder icon via Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types. the only thing that actually worked for me was a System Restore

... the PC is locked down to the admin guys only ...
Then they should fix it. :D

It's a well known issue.

You can run this script: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_folder_open.htm

It's specifically designed to fix it

It's unfortunate MS allows things to be easily broken via Folder Options. Luckily the fix is easy.
