If you can buy something and it does NOT belong to you, what is the point in buying it?

Isn't that called renting?

I am suing them for misleading sales tactics and mislabeling what it really is...renting...not buying.

Isn't there a truth in advertising law?

Good luck! You're gonna need it.

Indeed good luck in the lawsuit.

To help explain it (or not); commercial audio CDs and downloaded music, etc., that has a copyright is owned by someone else and purchasing for instance an audio CD is nothing more than a license agreement between you and the artist and/or recording company. Although you've purchased a license you haven't in reality gained ownership of the content, you've only been licensed ("given restricted permissions") to use the content in accordance to the license agreement.

It would be nice if they'd print the license on the content such as a page in the liner notes that explictly states what's allowed and what isn't so people don't get lawsuits for unknowingly breaching and conducting illegal usage of their license, versus the FBI warning and the $250,000 fine, and such and such amount of years imprisonment, etc., blah, blah, blah.

Do you really believe all that crap? It's all about the money... or who has it.

Sony damaged people's computers with a rootkit that cloaks itself. If they can sue people

for $250,000 per song for "potentially" lost revenue, why can't we sue for "potentially"

millions of bucks they made us lose when they damaged our business pc?

_________________________________________________________________________

Sony sues for $250,000 at the time. Then when they do it, they give a paltry FREE 11 songs

to people that they can download off their website. How cheap is that? Sony pays nothing

back. I think EVERYONE that has been infected with the rootkit by Sony should sue them

for as much as or more than they are sueing us.

"You did not purchase the content. Just the right to use it an unlimited number of times"

I may be wrong, but last time I checked, any cd that I bought actually came with the purchase, I mean, it was not only a license that I received.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is it that if I crack and throw the cd away, or it gets bit by my dog, then no problem

because that was MY cd that I owned. They do NOT care. (No free cd replacement)

Why is it only considered theirs if you copy it for a friend?

Shouldn't they ALWAYS own it if they own it at all? They don't really care what is right...

They only care about the $$$.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh well, I can't own it part of the time & part of the time not. There is no such thing as shared

ownership. I either own it or I don't. What I do with things I buy is my own business.

Ease of doing things does not translate into they are illegal. If you purchase a single grain of

corn from the store to eat, & they expect you back the next day to buy some more, can they

really sue you for planting that corn and growing another easy 1,000 or more exact copies of

the corn? For competing with them? Stealing their profit? Making unauthorized copies?

When are people gonna see that sharing is NOT piracy? Only actual STEALING is piracy. It

is IMPOSSIBLE to steal things that are given to you.

Yeah, the C-Cleaner author deserves credit.

Companies like Sony who destroy user machines, costing potentially millions in damages,

THEN they provide ONLY 11 free songs to download. Where is the justice in that? They did

they same thing to the consumer that they complained happened to them. Only they sued

the consumer for $250,000 per incident.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could care less if greedbags like Sony rolled belly up & died the proverbial death.
