restore Reg files
Cleaned Reg two day's ago. rebooted computer and I lost system fonts, on windows XP " My Computer "is just symbols. start menu uppportion is just symbols. Jim
Using an Administrator Account Double click on the Backed up Registry Files
It'll say some along the lines of are you sure you want to added this key to the registry
(course you may not be able to read it because of your issue) but click yes (the first box)
Next time follow the advice in my signature for running the registry section
Nergal: i was going to post the same, But the second time round reading i noticed "restore didnt work"
I haven't found any real solution apart from reinstalling Windows, but that seems a bit too severe to me.
For the want of anything better, does your font folder appear to be in good order? It should look like a font folder:
The other possibility I came across was the font folder may not be acting like a font folder for one reason or another.
It might be worth downloading TweakUI, and try running the "Repair Font Folder" routine.

Of course you might get input from another member who has seen this before and knows a fix.
