Repeated appear ActiveX/COM problem of msdaora.dll in Win8

Dear sir,

I am running CCleaner v3.21 in Win8, it repeated appearring ActiveX/COM problem of msdaora.dll as follows, even I had repeatly cleaned it.

ActiveX/COM 問題 InProcServer32\%CommonProgramFiles%\System\Ole DB\msdaora.dll HKCR\CLSID\{e8cc4cbe-fdff-11d0-b865-00a0c9081c1d}

registry.txt

I believe Win 8 is still Beta.

It may be unduly risky to clean the registry on a Beta O.S.

obviously this file is part of a software that detects and re-enables this file.

please follow the suggestions in my signature when cleaning the registry

I got same problem on win8 x64 RTM, ccleaner v3.24.1850

ActiveX/COM Issue || InProcServer32\%CommonProgramFiles%\System\Ole DB\msdaora.dll || HKCR\CLSID\{e8cc4cbe-fdff-11d0-b865-00a0c9081c1d}

@ Nergal, what suggestions we should follow? I guess we just have to leave it be..

you should follow all of them. But in this case right click the entry in the analysis and choose exclude, then ccleaner will not bother you with it anymore

I have the same problem

NourinE the answer remains the same

do NOT delete all entries ccleaner (or any reg "fixer") lists only the ones you know, if it keeps showing up right click and exclude the entry from scanning

ok, thanks

I updated to v4.01.4093 (25 Apr 2013) and removed ActiveX/COM Issue || InProcServer32\%CommonProgramFiles%\System\Ole DB\msdaora.dll || HKCR\CLSID\{e8cc4cbe-fdff-11d0-b865-00a0c9081c1d}

from the excluded list, then ran Ccleaner many times to see, and the problem disappeared

Here is a solution:

You have 2 program folders in Windows 8, but the file "msdaora.dll" is missing in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Ole DB

just copy it there from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB.

After this you don't get it up in the registry scanner...

But as "NourinE" say above, maybe an update is enough to do.

The scanner maybe didn't scan the "Program Files (86)" folder, but I have 2 computers, one with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8, the Windows 7 computer never had any problems and the file is missing there also...

So Windows 8 feels still like a Beta version with many small issues...

Copying a 32 bit dll into the 64 bit folder is a dirty bodge that might bite you.

If you use any 64 bit application which makes use of "msdaora.dll" then using the 32 bit dll may cause tears.

It might be better to either :-

Use the exclude previously recommended; OR

obtain the proper 64 bit version which appears to come from Oracle :-

For me, an update to the version 4.01.4093 and it was enough,

I have just one question, when I removed (ActiveX/COM Issue||InProcServer32\%CommonProgramFiles%\System\Ole DB\msdaora.dll || HKCR\CLSID\{e8cc4cbe-fdff-11d0-b865-00a0c9081c1d}) from the excluded list, does that mean it was completely removed or just from the excluded list?

just from the exclude list
