According to Microsoft recommendation you should NOT put a uninstall link into the start menu. All uninstallation should be performed from the Add/remove programs applet.
Can you please provide a link to Microsoft site so we can read the details about the recommentation?
Thanks

Chapter 3. User Interface Fundamentals
Requirements
5. Do not place shortcuts to documents, help or uninstall in the Start menu
It is merely a recommendation not a requirement.
The reason they seem to give is this..
The Start menu is designed to give users easy access to launch applications. Usability studies show that when the Start menu becomes too cluttered, users can no longer do this
According to Microsoft recommendation you should NOT put a uninstall link into the start menu. All uninstallation should be performed from the Add/remove programs applet.
Does m$ own the world or something?
I would not uninstall any thing from there add/remove apps.
its just a shortcut anyway....if you dont like it go to:
documents + settings > user name > start menu > programs > CCleaner
then open the CCleaner folder and delete the shortcut....
not a big deal....and besides, it takes forever to populate that stupid add/remove list in the control panel...just an unnecessary waste of time...
They are only Microsoft excuses. The functionality of the Start Menu System is slow by itself, then when you have fewer icons, will be faster. The start menu system every time you open it, check ( for each shotcut ) the existence of the file, extract the icon and resize it, and then it shows. A stupid mistake is that if for example a shortcut (points to a file or folder) and that is on a network drive "not available", the start menu is delayed 30 seconds or more, for every time you open the menu.
