Is it possible to use CCleaner for removing whole groups of files using the extension? Say I wanted to sweep all files with the extension *.bak og *.chk. As CC is now I cannot see how this is possible. I have to point out the specific files (or folders) in the Options -> Custom menu.
You can have it clean all the files with an extension in a folder, but that is. It won't scan your hard drive for certain file extensions. Which is why I like CCleaner, you can run into problems just wanting to clean certain file extensions.
That's one of the reason's why CCleaner is so safe.
You can use Windows own search (Start-Search) for that; Just type example *.bak to search box, specify location and start searching. Then press Ctrl+A to select all and remove.

Agreed, any cleaner with that type of option is just asking for trouble IMHO
