Registry

Hi everyone. My name's Jeremy. I've recently downloaded Ccleaner and ran a scan.. Firstly, it messed up all my fonts, but I fixed that. Secondly, my audio doesn't work. I was researching about it on google. (Search engines rock) I saw something that said Ccleaner messed up the registry for the audio software. I don't know if it's my problem, but I don't know what to do. Thirdly, the process "svchost.exe" keeps using up all my memory and CPU. I read somewhere that it has something to do with automatic updates for windows. I tried to use automatic updates, Doesn't work! Something's definitely wrong.

OS - XP

Things I've tried :

Restoration of the registry files that I've saved = Didn't work, Doesn't let me restore them.

System restoration to an earlier time = Didn't work, I don't know why but it has never worked for me.

Running Anti-Virus scan.

If anyone can help, PLEASE contact me through this thread or through my E-Mail.

Don't give your email address here - it's the best way to get loads of spam ;)

Are you sure you haven't got any viruses ? Windows should let you restore the Registry...

I'm almost positive, I've ran multiple scans. Nothing's shown up. I have the Norton Security Suite. BUT - It keeps saying Intrusion blocked - then it states the adress for my svchost.exe. =s

Eh, I don't care about the spam. =D But thanks.

If I was you I would consider what Aethec said.

It sounds like you may have virus /malware issues.

There are some steps you can follow here, just do the steps you can and then post in the Spyware Hell part of the forum any logs you have managed to do

Well, if svchost is infected, Norton might not detect it, as svchost means "Service Host" - if a virus finds a way to load a service, it could do some really nasty things.

You can get help from our Spyware mods, read this thread : http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=20120 ;)

Alright, I'm doing this. I'm currently download Malwarebytes'. I'll run a scan with that. All the other stuff looks pretty confusing. If this doesn't work. I'll TRY to do the other stuff. Thanks for the quick feed back. =)
