Registry scan question

Good morning! I just signed on to this discussion board today, and I am glad I did. I've been using CCleaner for about six months to clean out the caches and temp files.

Now I would like to be able to use it for the registry files, but I don't know what would happen if I ran the cleaner after scanning the registry. Would someone be willing to help me understand how it works? I'd appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Hello :)

When you clean the registry ( an issues scan) you are given the option to back up the part of the registry you are cleaning. This is saved by default in 'my documents and is a .reg file, it looks like a piece of paper with blue blocks on it. It will have cc_ year and date under it.

IF you had to restore this as you found you were having problems after the clean (unlikely) then you would just right-click on the .reg file and choose merge.

Have a read here as well in case you haven't already

As always take care when doing anything regarding the registry.
