registry restore

Hello all,

have a problem with the restore of .reg files created by Ccleaner V2.25.1025

When i right-click the .reg file and MERGE, i receive an error msge "...reg is not a valid Win32 application"

I already uninstalled previous version of Ccleaner and installed this one, but no change :(

My system is running Win xp pro sp3

Can somebody help me please.

Thank you in advance.

Try restoring your .reg file associations.

Thank you for your fast answer, but "xp_regfile.reg" is also a .reg file ... giving the same problem

I checked the file association, but it seems OK to me :(

What happens if you just try and run regedit?

Then i receive the regedit-pannel

I think hazelnut is right.

The panel should say 'Opens with: Registry Editor'

Try following the instructions and re-establishing your file association.

That should say "Opens with: Registry Editor" (or regedit, something to that affect.)

You should be able to change what it opens with, navigate to C:\Windows(or whatever your Windows folder is..)\Regedit.exe

Thank you all. :)

Association works now using "open with" Regedit.exe and restore is OK.

I'll probably never know why the association disappeared, but that's not important.

Problem solved.
