I downloaded the dial-a-fix and ran the repair permissions and checked the log and it showed that no restrictive policies were found. I tried doing a regedit and tried to delete the registry key manually and it gave me an error message. I also noticed this problem immediately after updating CCleaner to the latest version, Is there a problem with this version or is this issue isolated to my system?
Perhaps you did not notice it. But many people for many versions have tried to remove the ibackup reg key. again my signature is the pertanent lesson in this. Only remove those entries for programs you know you no longer have.
I usually run the scans multiple times, because I've found that sometimes CCleaner doesn't catch or remove everything on the first round. Anyway, I did some searching on my own and found a few previous posters that were experiencing the same issue. They ran the scans in safe mode and were able to clear the log without a problem. So, I applied the fix that others tried and it cleared it as well. I also ran various scans with Norton and that seems to be operating without any problems as well.
Like Nergal's well placed comments when it comes to my installed anti-virus software (AntiVir Free) I don't let anything touch its logs or registry keys, I in fact have excluded it from being detected even if the box is checked to clean it.
