When we run CCleaner against our registry it shows our pc is clean and running ok. When we run AVG PC ANALYZER against our registry [a few seconds later] it shows 117 errors found. Why doesn't CCleaner catch these errors?
How do I fix this problem?
Grandpa
Hi GRANDPA, and welcome to Piriform.
It isn't a problem as such, and therefore doesn't need fixing.
You will never find two registry cleaners finding the same amount of errors. Some cleaners go deeper than others, and also look for different kinds of errors.
How far to take this depth of cleaning is down to the developers of the various programs, and what they individually deem as safe to remove. CCleaner is what you could call a "safe" registry cleaner, although backing up as a precaution is still essential.
My advice would be, whatever you decide to use, make sure you follow that programs dialogue and make a backup before cleaning, and as far as is possible with the knowledge you have, check what is being deleted, and if in doubt, leave well alone.
A better precaution would be to make a backup of the entire registry first with ERUNT. This application is a real life saver. It also has a version with a user friendly interface (GUI).

Hope that helps.

CCleaner is relatively safer, but if you want to risk it, try the AVG and report back, if you can.
(Gary Utilities reports I have 100+ entries that need cleaning but I opt for the safer CCleaner which finds only a few, and I leave 'em alone.)
