I did a registry clean and did a backup. I now want to use the backup file. Went to documents and found the file that says "registry backup". There is no file with cccleaner anywhere.
When I right click there is no merge option, and if I double left click, it asks "open with".
How do I restore the backup file.

Are you using xp or vista?
The backup is kept by default in my documents and will look like a piece of white paper with blue blocks on it.
It should have something like cc_2071106_2110.reg beside it.
I am using Vista.
Looked in my documents and there is a folder that looks like a blank piece of paper named registry backup. There is no other folder like the one you mentioned. Trying to open it results in what I said in my first post.
Is it named like I said with .reg on the end?
If not try renaming it to have the .reg ending.

I renamed it so that it ended with .reg and all is fine.
Just to let you know, the file name never started with cc_ it was just called "registry backup".
