Hi, first: sorry if this is in wrong section.
Anyhoo... my question is two fold, but only one is specifically CCleaner orientated so I'll start there.
When I go to Merge an old registery entry (back up) I get
'cannot import 'yadayadayada' error accessing registery'
any ideas why this is?
Now you may well wonder why a computer nuff-nuff like me would want to do that. well, I'm glad you asked, cos maybe you know the answer.
As of a few days ago, when I click on 'My Computer' I get the torch icon for a minute or so scanning before it eventually brings up my drives. which sux. So I googled around, and found answers that seemed irrelevant (or too hard) and then I found one forum conversation that found the answer lay in having cleaned up something needed from the registery. So as I did a reg clean around the time the prob started I thought I'd merge the stuff back in and see if it fixed the prob.
Any idea if this could be the problem (I actually doubt it)? If not, out of the forum's scope perhaps, but any ideas why the (stupid) torch icon time waster?
Cheers,
Moose
Some more information would be helpful:
* Windows version
* Copy the .reg file and paste it into a reply using the CODE function

right. of course.
XP. Thats the easy bit.
I tried to copy and paste the file but it didnt seem to work so i clicked edit and copied the info there. I have no idea if that is the info needed so if it is the wrong s**t then forgive me but I may need a little more guidance.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.cgi][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.cgi\OpenWithList][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.tmp][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.tmp\OpenWithList][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\C5TP7AF3flp9]
also have little idea about the code function.
however on the upside I am quite good with girls, if anyone needs some help there... ![:D]()
Hello? Anyone there? Andavari?
For starters make sure you're logged on with Administrator's privileges which is required for importing data into the Windows registry. Other than that I see no errors with the .reg file you listed.
I'm confused by your problem. Did you clean your registry with a program other than ccleaner? If so what program did you use?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.cgi]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.cgi\OpenWithList]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.tmp]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.tmp\OpenWithList]
These two are extensions added into the registry when you opened a folder containing files ending with those extensions. CCleaner will offer to remove them since there's "probably" not an application installed that directly opens them. Note: The .tmp extension is a temporary file extension, otherwise known as a junk file!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\C5TP7AF3flp9]
This I have no ideal what it pertains to.
If the .reg file won't import (don't know why it wouldn't) you could open it with Notepad and change heading from:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
To:
REGEDIT4
