Recuva won't run

Greetings:

I searched this forum and could not find anything to help.

I installed Recuva on a system running Windows XP Professional, SP3 with all current updates. When I run Recuva, the welcome screen opens, but if I click on "Cancel" the program closes. If I check the "Do not show this Wizard..." box, the file screen opens for a flash and then immediately closes. If I run it from the Wizard, it will search the disk and when it tried to display results, the "file" page immediately closes.

I installed this on another computer with XP Pro, SP3 and all current updates and it runs fine. Of course, the computer that I need to recover files from is the one it won't run on.

Both machines have AMD CPUs and the one it won't run on has .5 gig more memory.

I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and the same thing. I downloaded the install file again (even though the same file worked on the other system) and reinstalled it and it still won't run.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
