Recuva Questions

Does Recuva work on NT4

And - somewhat surprisingly - How do I combat Recuva ?

ie) When I run Recuva (after trying to clean my Hard disk - using not only CCleaner but also other freeware utilities) - I can always recover data - which worries me - How do I delete data for good ?

Short of Formatting my drive ?

Use the secure deletion option in CCleaner or scrub your hard drive with Eraser.

Recuva is specced to run on Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and 98. If you use CCleaner with the one pass overwrite option it will render the files it is scheduled to delete unrecoverable with any software. Don't set your browser option to clear temp internet files on close or this will bypass CCleaner. CC has a specified subset of files to clean, so not every deleted file will be caught, but most will be.

I have tested it on Windows NT. Revuva can be install but it can't start. An error message will come.

What is the error message?

Are you using vista or xp?

It's Windows NT with SP6. It's a german message. I can make a Screenshot and upload it. It's a problem with the "user32.dll".

It is an old Workstation and I can not scan it on a mapped network drive.
