I have an IRiver T10 MP3 player. I recently deleted a file and would like to "recuva" it, but when plugged in thru USB port it does not show up on the Recuva screen. It does show up on "My Computer" with all the files, and I can move them around, but Recuva isn't finding and listing it for a search. When I plug in an SD card it shows up fine, but not my MP3 player. Help???!
maybe recuva doesn't support FAT drives?
Does you iRiver have the UMS firmware installed?? without this Recuva cannot read your device like a regular flash drive.

Actually according to Wikipedia the T10 uses Microsoft's MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) which I assume is incompatible with Recuva.

How do I find out if I have UMS firmware installed? And what actually is the difference between UMS and MTB?
As far as I can remember iRivier have never shipped flash players with UMS firmware this was optional for owners to download and install themselves.
Also the fact that Recuva cannot detect the mp3 player but you could move files around would suggest it's an MTP device.

Perhaps this may help a bit finding out which format yours is in.
What exactly is the difference between the UMS and MTP so that Recuva can't read the MTP. And will they ever be able to read it? If I change firmware it reformats the unit and I lose for good what I'm trying to recuva.
MTP is a communication protocol for your device and computer to exchange files, a bit like using ftp or a network drive.
For Recuva to work it needs low level access to the file system to recover deleted files, this isn't possible with MTP.

Seems like I suffered similar experience.
