i accidently deleted a set of files that i believed were duplicates, using shift+delete so i decided to try and use recuva to attempt to recover them.
however, it seems to only be finding one file that was deleted. there were definitely more than that :/
i have tried deep scan and running the scan multiple times and have had no luck with that.
i just thought i would check on here to see if there was another way or if i am missing something.

When a file is deleted any of its components can be reused at any time by the file system. So there's no guarantee that any deleted file will be recoverable. It appears that only one of the deleted files remains intact. After an entry in the MFT (assuming NTFS) or the file's data clusters have been reused there's no possibility of recovery.
just to make sure, this applies even if the drive hasnt had any writes to it after the deletion?
i realised that they werent duplicates and immediately tried to use recuva

no writes that you've initiated that is.
the only thing keeping data from being written to a sector is data.
if that data spot is flagged as available, its an open-slather, free-for-all to use that space.
close all your programs down, walk away from the PC for 5mins and come back.
look at your hard drive activity LED. guarantee within 30secs, it'll blink, more than once.
that's data transfer - read and/or write.
on modern, online PC's, data is always changing and looking for new spaces to fill.
