Recuva HD recovery

Hello everybody, I have a question about the length of time it would take for the program to finish.

I started a HD scan for the files, it offered to use Deep scan because it wouldnt work with default settings. My HD got somehow damaged(don't know if partition is broken or the actual hardware), and it is in RAW format now. The hard drive is 2TB in size.

I started the scan yesterday, and after an hour I cancelled because it was stuck at 0% - I was wrong, it was working, just didn't display any progress. It display about 1700 pictures from the hard drive. So after that, I started the scan again, and it's already been scanning around 20 hours. I attached a screenshot of how the window looks, and my question is how long should it take in theory to finish the scan completely?

Please notice that progress bar is not always at 0% - it goes from 0% to 100% and then back again, and Estimated time left, is jumping from 4 hours left to 38 days left every half a second(so there's no actual time estimation.)

Thanks for the help.

Update: Took the program about 2 days to finish. Thanks.

Hi dima.rudeshko, and welcome to the forum.

Your update sounds like good news although you don't say as to whether you successfully recovered your files.

It would be interesting to know, and I hope it was a positive result.

Hi DennisD, yes, I recovered some most of the files, although they were not sorted in the folders, but it's fine.

Now trying to recover some videos as well, but I would need to get a new hard drive for that just to use it temporarily.

Thanks for the update, and well done with getting some of your stuff back.

You can restore to a copy of the original folder structure with Recuva ...

... although I hope you never have another opportunity to try that out. :)
