Recuva finds files but will not restore them

Hi, hope someone can help. I have a seagate hard drive with windows vista on it that crashed, somehow the drive was corrupted and will not boot up. I booted up the computer with a 2nd hard drive running windows xp and ran the free version of Recuva on the corrupted drive. Recuva was able to list all of my files and they all have green circles next to them and are described as not deleted. (they have green outlined circles, not solid green circles). When selecting any file (picture, text, etc) there is no preview available and when trying to restore any file the restore fails. I have tried restoring to the HD I am booting from and now am trying to restore to a USB stick. Also when I select to restore a file it says it will take 5 hours? Is this correct for only one file? At that rate it would take months to restore the files (if it works). I am hoping that the data is still good since it is listed, is there anything else I can do to get the restore function to work?

Since you can access your hard drive from XP try running "chkdsk.exe d: /f" assuming d: is the problem drive.

got recuva to work, works great!

Got recuva to work, not sure what I was doing wrong the first time but it works great! Saved me thousands of pictures and other files that were going to be lost. Excellent program.
