Hi- I use recuva normally on an external drive , not on the actual PC I am trying to recover.
However, I have a laptop that i need files off a previous windows install and it is the same PC the is running recuva- this results in BSOD (I have not looked at the dump yet as I do not have the new login).
Is Recuva supposed to work in this instance?
This is a fresh HP factory re-install of 64 bit Windows 7
Hi delaneybob, and welcome to the forum.
Just to be clear ... You have a fresh install of Win 7 on a laptop, and Recuva is installed on that laptop and BSOD's when you try to scan for files from the previously installed Operating System.
Have I read that correctly?
On a different note, when you installed the new Operating System (Win7), did the Installation process not create a folder called "Windows.old" containing data from the old Operating System?
If it was created, I think it's usually located in the root of the C: drive.
