I am still unable to recover files from my Passport WD portable drive. When I use Recuva for scanning, the message comes out as No files found and at the bottom it says "unable to read boot sector". Can somebody help resolve the problem?

what is this still?
can you please post this in the original thread if it is a continuation of another post you made.
are you providing any new information from before? you're really giving little to no information on the subject, but it does sound like your drive doesn't have a master boot record which is what recuva uses to find and recover files.

You are right. The message I get is : Unable to read boot sector
How do I correct this?
Here is my original post:
I have a WD Mypassport 320 GB external portable drive that was working well till recently, when suddenly I could not see the drive letter recognized when I connect to PC. I was told by WD help to use a recovery program if I want the data to be recovered. I used Recuva and the first time the list of 'undeleted' files came up and I recovered one part of it. The second time when I tried, I checked the box 'restore folder structure' option and the list never showed even after 15 minutes. Of course I have about 130 GB of disk filled up. Is there any reason for this? Will a deepscan help? I do not want to format since I will lose all data.

Actually after the first run with RECUVA when I did not check the 'restore folder structure' option, I could restore part of my documents. The second time I used the 'restore folder structure' option. After this I see two drive letters for the drive, G and H. G contains the smartware and H shows the unable to read boot sector message. Is there any way to make the drive H self-boot?

As Nergal says, you should have continued this in your other thread.

Members have taken the trouble to offer advice to you in that thread, and you haven't replied to them.
That being said, this may help you out:
"Paragon Rescue Kit 10 Free Edition".
The features which may be of use to you:
Correct “boot.ini” on selected diskCorrect Boot Configuration Data (BCD) files for partitions on selected disk or for partitions on all disks
Correct the Master Boot Record (MBR) executable code
Worth a try if nothing better comes along.
Dennis:
Thanks for the suggestion. I shall try and post the result.
