Can I use Recuva to recover pictures and movies from a DVD/CD? When I run it and select the DVD drive, it is greyed out.
If not, is there a program you can recommend I use to recover the files?
Recuva does not run against optical drives. There are programs available to recover data from damaged DVD/CD's, but few to recover deleted files. I shouldn't think that there's much call for it. Try Google.
Not Recuva related:
If Windows is by chance showing you a cyclic redundancy check ("read-error") warning when trying to read your CD/DVD I'd recommend trying it in a completely different disc drive on your computer or someone elses computer. Reason being some drives are better at getting past the errors.
