Hi I was wondering how I find a deleted txt file? It was just a list of songs that I wanted to buy but I've been building it up for years and accidentally deleted it and cleared my recycle bin. It's a notepad file. I have Windows 8. I seem to have found it when I searched using Recuva but it wasn't the correct name and when I recovered it and opened the information wasn't there. It was just the location of it written in spaced out letters. Not sure what that means! I don't really have any idea what I'm doing but I'd really like this file back. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Files sent to the recycler are renamed (by Windows) to $Innnn.txt and $Rnnnn.txt in Vista and above. If you can't find the file under its proper name using a normal scan then look for the $R file (the $I file is just directory info and is no use). You can't use a deep scan as txt files don't have a file signature and won't be recognised.
Thanks for the reply! Still doesn't seem to be working. Any txt file I've recovered seems to have the actual info missing. The one I wanted to save just says Ç9 €õÖáj ÐC : \ U s e r s \
I'm not sure what that means. Is it possible the file is gone forever?
