Hi,
I just deleted a word document, and using Recuva and other software all I can find is several files with gibberish filenames (~WRD0001 to 3.doc). I could recover those, but what do I do from there?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think that these files will have anything of use in them, check the date and size. Did you delete through the recycler or a simple shift/del? The recycler renames files but should leave the .doc extension.
Have you tried (in Advanced Mode) putting .doc in the Filename/Path box? This should track down Word files. After that you're (I'm) running out of options. A deep scan maybe, but it takes a long time.

Since this is not my doing or my computer, I lack some of the details. I'll ask the person. All I know is that the computer she's using (which is not hers) deletes files directly without putting them into the recycle bin first.
I actually did a deep scan. Wasn't too long because the partition is apparently fairly small.
I've read something about .wbk files for Word files. Would that track be worth pursuing?
I'm not sure what these are. I recovered one and opened it in Word but nothing of use.
Okay, now that I borrowed my friend's computer I can have a clearer look.
There is a whole bunch of .lnk files from the Office folder with the original file's name on them. Can I do anything with these?
They're shortcut files you won't find anything useful inside apart from the files they were linked to.

A quick update.
Even trying other software didn't seem to allow to find the deleted file. For some reason it must have been overwritten almost right after it got deleted. Bad luck, I guess.
Thank you for your help, Augeas and redhawk .

Another program that can open some Word .doc/.rtf that you may want to include in the Docs site info is Metapad.
