Hi,
due to improper partition manipulation, i lost > 100.000 Files in Subdirectories with a hierachy depth of ~ 5 Layers (~ 1TByte).
Is there an 'easy' way to restore the proper partition settings? Besides the accidently manipulated partition no files were written
to disk - except 9 files written by the OS (Win XP). The File System used ist NTFS.
I'm afraid that copying so many files could result in a loss of the directory hierarchy. Furthermore the file restore process would last many hours.
Several month ago I used Recuva successfully with restoring some deleted files. It worked great! But now i'm not shure if it is the proper tool to fit my needs.
Any hints would be appreciated!
This may help with it's Partition Recovery Wizard (Undelete Partition):
Paragon Rescue Kit 9.0 Express: (Freeware Version)
You would need to burn the file to a CD as an "Image", using software like Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 or ImgBurn, both freeware.
If you go for this, to save time and hassle, extract the ISO from within the downloaded exe file, and then you can burn that ISO (Image File), straight to disk as an "Image" without having to run the installer, register online etc.. Just a short cut really.
Then boot your PC with the CD and it will explain itself once loaded into memory. It has other features which may be useful.
Hope that helps, but either way, it's a nice tool to have in your armoury.
methusalix, please note I've changed the link for "Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010" (Freeware) above.
I've had it bookmarked for some time, but the site had substituted the recent limited time offer "Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 Advanced" version into the old "Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010" normal version address I had bookmarked.
The normal version is always free. Apologies for the mix up, which I've only just discovered. The link above is now correct for the always free version.
