Recovered video file but onlt media player recognizes

I was editing some video in Adobe premiere, then somehow deleted the files from the flash drive. Recuva restored the files (wmv) but now Premiere or any other editing software says they are unsupported. Only media player is able to play them.

Any suggestions?

You probably need ffmpeg this can transcode wmv files into another formats however being a console tool it might be a little tricky to use.

There are several front-end interfaces for ffmpeg one I would recommend to use is WinFF - http://winff.org
