Recent versions of CCleaner do not launch on XP

I was running an old version of CCleaner and upgraded it to v5.32.6129 which failed to launch. Some general Windows error box came up.

I tried several earlier versions including v5.25.5902 which also failed but when I tried v5.23.5808 it was okay.

Has there been some technical change after v5.23 (or perhaps v5.24) ?

By the way, I run WinXP/SP3 on an Athlon processor.
