Re-cycle bin does not empty

Hi,

I have been noticing that from few versions back to the present one, the "Recycle Bin" does not empty after using CCleaner.

I use Windows Vista64 without any problems (really!). I have reset the $recycle.bin. I have the latest version to-date of CC as is my system. I'm able to clean the bin manually, and. The "empty recycle bin" box is checked in CC.

I have done some research on the web and it seem that this is not an isolated issue, but could not find a fix. Help will be very much appreciated.

Can you state the actual version number off ccleaner you are using please.

Any thing strike you as odd in what is ticked in ccleaner/settings/advanced?

Do you ever delete files from a different drive? If so, did you run the recycle bin fix on that drive too

Version is in the TAG (subtitle). v3.23.1823 (64-bit)

No. All is default.

No. The drive is brand new and I have yet not performed a delete there.

Advanced boxes are all un-checked

Have you looked in the Recycle Bin to verify that it is or isn't empty?

I know every now and then on very rare occasions that the Recycle Bin icon on my system doesn't show the empty icon after running CCleaner, however running CCleaner again usually fixes it.

Recycle Bin had files before and after using CC. I deleted the files manually followed by placing a new deleted file there. Re-ran CC with the same result, it did not remove files from the recycle bin.

Just for the purpose of troubleshooting do the files delete if you are in safe mode using ccleaner?

If you create another user and delete files to the bin do they delete then? (as you know you can just delete the new user after the test)

Are they random files or do they have something in common?

To be tested (pending).

Another user/account already exist. File do get deleted in that account as expected using CC.

General, random files, like office files, pdfs, jpeg, etc.

Thank you for helping

If you look at the properties of the files that won't delete (via right-clicking on them and selecting properties) do you have full permissions to do things to them (press advanced button to see )

I am an Administrator with full rights. The files appear not to be limited in any way. See the attachment.

What happens if you right-click on ccleaner destop icon, select' run as admin' and then run ccleaner?

By the way even though you are admin, you are admin with limited rights in Vista and Win 7.

This had been done even before contacting this forum. No change!

How does one get FULL rights in Windows?

Please note it is not recommended to run as this.

I would like to thank all of you that offered suggestions and helped in solving my problem. At the same time I would like to apologise for having taken your time, when I should have been more thorough in my own search for the solution.

The solution was so simple and right under my nose (embarrassing):

CCleaner>Options>Advanced>Only delete files in Recycle Bin older than 24 hours: unchecked

Lovely product, which I cannot do without.

Thank you.

Nice of you to post back and let us know you have worked things out Cloud14.

Sometimes it is the obvious things in life that we overlook :)

Anyway a belated welcome to the forum and don't be worried about posting about anything again, we don't bite !

(I might bite, but only a small sharp nip, as a mother dog to it's pup)
