Dear Sirs, Madams,
Please see attached MS Word file for my issue on the newest CCleaner update. I've never had Installer issues with the product since I started using it in Jan. 2013!!
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have. (My "old" system is always backed up before I try serious things. To a full "mirror image" of C drive with all things in proper order BEFORE any installs or modifications.
Sincerely,
Jim Hoffman.
Dear Sirs, Madams:
Problem: Am using “old” version of Ccleaner(v5.57.7182). Can download “new” update and save the “Install” file(in “Downloads), when “executing” new version,(v5.58.7209) Installer appears to “start”(“Extracting Files”), then stops and I get no Setup window. But then can not delete the Setup file as Windows reports it is “In use by another program”!! This is the 1st ever version which has done this!! Even tried ‘restarting’ the WMI Installer in Windows “Services”!! No difference. Windows XP “Event Viewer” is giving me this error message in it’s “Applications” area: Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab> with error: A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file. This seems to indicate a certificate “validity” error and I’ve looked up online that you have changed the certificate validity signatures from the ones used on the “old” version(v5.57.7182) to the “new” version!! Will I have to do an “Uninstall/Reinstall?? Should I use Windows MSI Installer or Revo Portable Uninstaller to do the “uninstall”?? (It does remove ALL traces of any old programs incuding “Registry” entries pertaining to any program. I’ve used Revo for many years now with excellent results to remove stubborn acting installations when required.(sometimes caused by a bad “install”). It assures no “old” remnants may cause other difficulties. (after uninstalling like this, I’ve always used Windows MSI Installer to put in a “new” version. I’m using Win XP SP3 and have ZERO problems running any other programs. System is maintained regularly.(Disk wiping, junk files, defragging, error checking. This is done about every 2-3 weeks on a regular basis. Meticulously too. All systems are “go”!! Thanks, Jim Hoffman. Links(web sites used to rundown this issue.)>:
