On XP SP2 Pro while defragging an older IDE drive via USB external drive, it appears to show a normal graph, then nearing the end of the defrag, it throws up weird "checkerboard" style patterns of differing patterns.
I am not sure if this is while processing the MFT that it first begins, but it resorts to weird malarcky such as this with interludes of normal graphs.
Any idea what causes this? I would surely love for the graph to maintain it's state. Seems to defrag, but seems weird watching the screen fill with weird defrag patterns.
