Programs

In "Add/Remove Programs", I have two things I don't recognise.

One is called "advertismen" (that's right - not "advertisment").

The other is called "WebFldrs XP".

Are these safe or problems?

advertismen is malware (so remove it), and WebFldrs XP is part of Windows and removal is not recommended.

Advertismen is in "Add/Remove Programs", and it's also listed under Ccleaner. but I can' seem to install it either through Windows or through Ccleaner.

if you have the malware that cant even be bothered to hide itself it may be that you have an even worse infection, this may be why your wireless connection is dodgy. i would advise following the instructions and posting a log in the hijackthis section

I'll post a Hijack This log when I get home.

BUT . . . This morning I ran Windows Defender, Ewido, Spybot, Ad-Aware, CCleaner AND SuperAntiSpyware. And I have Norton and Arovax installed. And none of them picked up advertismen.

Many types of malware can avoid those cleaners. A good one that I would try is Kaspersky.

Also the free online scanner at http://www.ewido.net/ can detect and remove many of these threats.

Ewido's not too bad, you can download their scanner too. But in my experience it didn't turn up any results that Ad-Aware/SpybotSD/MSAnti-Spy aka MS Defender didn't find.

It all depends on the specific threats; some tools find this, and others find that. The Ewido online scan is easy to use - especially for inexperienced users - and it doesn't need any installation.
