program list gtonecare

CCleaner>tools>programs to remove, I have listed "GTONECARE" exactly as typed. (sans quotes).

I can't find any information through normal search engines or a search at this forum.

ANYone help. I'm wondering if I should remove it.

thanks,

Is it also listed in add/remove programs in your control panel?

If you do start> search and do a search of files and folders for this , does it show anything?

Do you watch podcasts?

Do you watch podcasts?

Already checked both add/remove and search-NADA.

I even went to onecarel (windows security program) and no search results there either.

The only podcasts that I may watch are by chance, i.e., if a certain website (news, stocks, etc.) runs with flash animation or advertising, etc. (though I don't know if that classifies as podcast).

Google showed a couple of hits, but nothing of substance or discernible info.

I am trying to clean system as I've been getting way too many stop errors and have spent the entire last two days checking and troubleshooting drivers, BIOS and MOBO updates. Hence this is not just idle curiosity, but a real troubleshooting excursion.

Yes, all security and fixes are up to date.

thanks,

This was what made me ask about the podcasts

http://gtone.libsyn.com/

This page may help with the stop errors

http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php

Are you able perhaps to make a restore point and uninstall it.?

Thanks for your attempts, but I've never been to that site (1) and I appreciate the aumha site, but I've already been there a couple of days ago and have bookmarked and may revisit if need be.

Additionally, I've downloaded and paid for (ouch), DriverGuide and toolkit. I managed to update a couple of drivers-none of any import- but the device manager update feature tells me that each driver that I've searched for update is best I they (windows) can do and all drivers are working properly.

Who knows, maybe I've already fixed or helped the problem with my two days of cyber-toiling.

I'll keep a vigil here to see if anyone else has encountered this gtonecare alien. I supposed I could just remove via CCleaner uninstall feature, but I hesitate to throw gasoline (petrol to you) into the fire.

Have you got, or had, installed Windows Live One Care?

I think JD, this is what he may mean here.

Hazelnut probably answered this question/reply, and I do have this program, but they don't know of this particular application in their bank, so it's not related, also it's listed under "programs to uninstall" in the CCleaner tools option.

maybe it's linux or mac related?

I wanted to report back to those of you who tried to help, and may need this in the future.

I tried to uninstall from option in CCleaner and noticed that it showed in the process as GTOnecare, so a new search of my own system using just the classic car GTO, sent me to folder called "Staging", it turns out to be a .msi file and yes connected to windows onecare program. needless to say, I left it alone and now know what it is, although I have no idea what staging means in window-land.

thanks again,

Which is why I asked as Googling kept coming up with it being an installer related to Windows OneCare. The fact that it isn't listed in Add/Remove probably means it's an essential part that shouldn't be uninstalled seperately, hence the reason it's hidden in Add/Remove (CCleaner lists items that are hidden normally in Add/Remove)
