Problems with CCleaner version 7

Dear Sirs,

As a CCleaner customer, I’m quite dissatisfied! My CCleaner Professional software was automatically updated to version 7.0.984.0. Terrible!

1. The “Health Check” prompts me to wait because CCleaner is “still busy with something else.”

2. The drive identified as out of date won’t update. The app says I don’t have permission!

3. The app also no longer has a shortcut to open the recycle bin.

4. Finally, the layout has become less interactive and more difficult to use.

How do you make a new version of a product that manages to be so much worse than the previous one?

They releasing new version each month by schedule. I bet they released version 7, because they need to “fix” something each month. So they have job for long time now. Same as Avast antivirus. Each month new version, which broke something, which will be fixed next month and so on.

Disregard. Restarting the device resolved this for me.
Still agree that this doesn’t feel like an upgrade though… really not seeing the value. Hopefully they’ll get it tightened up asap.

Thanks to everyone who commented and tried to help. The problem persists, even after restarting the PC. I’ll try reinstalling the previous version. It’s incredible how developers don’t observe minimum quality standards before distributing a paid product.

Same problem!! CCleaner 7 welcome screen just froze. No way to close. The icon on the taskbar just reinstalls the “improved” version and freezes again. Restarted. Same problem.

I’ve been using this for years since it started as crap cleaner. Congratulations, you just joined the list of terrible updates!

If you mean the welcome screen freezing then there’s a work round (it works for most):

Go into Windows Settings and set the display scale to 100%.
Run CCleaner 7 and get past the Welcome Screen.
Set your display scale back to what it was.

I uninstalled it downloaded the last V6 from filehippo and tuned off auto update

That is a very old version in your screenshot, one of the problems if you download from unofficial channels or websites.

I suggest that you download/install the last ‘official’ CCleaner 6 version which is v6.39.

PS. You can also find v6.39 on the Builds page as the ‘Sunset release’ - the last version that can run on Windows 7.

You posted a screenshot of ccleaner 6.21, the last version of ccleaner 6 was .39, thus your version is much more than a week old

The version in your screenshot, v6.21, was released in February 2024.

It’s 17 or 18 months out of date.

I can’t open ccleaner 7. I’ve tried some of the suggestions with no luck. Will ccleaner fix this issue?

I had the same problem , it froze at allow this software to make changes to this computer and saying yes or no didn’t make any difference . I tried a few times and gave up and reading the complaints across various forums decided I didn’t want it. Fortunately i had made a system restore point a week before so am back on an earlier version and not updating ever. This is a classic example of screwing up something that was OK to a degree . I never understood why I have to run clean several times to get down to no bytes removed , if it done it’s job as intended it should do that in one sweep surely.

I am experiencing the installer trying to reinstall 7 periodically when I am on my laptop. Fortunately, running health care has been kind to me and competed without major issues like some here yet.
