Each time I open a program built in Java, it crashes the actual program and if I try to stop the process, Windows crashes as well and I need to reboot the computer.
What could possibly cause this ?

Is your version of Java current?
If you're using the MS Windows JAVA version I suppose that could happen. You could download Sun Java Runtime.
Yeah, Microsoft's Java Impementation is known to be crappy.
If you use software developed in Java, you need a JRE (Java Runtime Environment), be sure to get the latest version which is avaible from Sun Microsystems.

I already have this one and it is up to date.
I tried uninstalling Java but it crashed... :|

What error are you getting? And does your user account have admin access?

Screen just locks up and I need to reboot the computer.
Yes, I have admin access.

Look in your event viewer. It will give you a description of the error/problem.
Perhaps reinstalling it "may fix it." Sun's JRE 1.5x I don't like that much therefore I'm using the good ole 1.4.2.
I just uninstalled Java with Unlocker and reinstalled and it works like a charm now.
Your installation must have went kaput then. Remember this, sometimes if something isn't working correctly to reboot - that will sometimes fix the issue such as a memory problem, etc.
