Problem with Drive Wiper

I'm trying to erase an old XP computer so I can donate it. Successfully ran drive wiper (one pass), then deleted many programs, and tried to run the max passes (35 passes I think) It started but indicated it would take 3 days so I canceled and attempted to run the 7 pass option. Now I get an error message " The volume does not contain a recognized file system".

1. Would you think I've successfully wiped the drive with the one pass option plus deleting programs

2. If not, how do I get Drive Wiper to work?

Thanks

1. Yes (in hindsight) one pass was enough but should have occured after you removed the programs.

35 passes is likely to kill a hard drive (and the error makes it sound like you may have at least corrupted a few blocks). I'd run a chkdsk /f /r
