Pro Account deleted with email

So I have been using ccleaner on all my devices since I can remember. I purchased the Pro version when it was only $1.99 thinking it was life access. I guess I was wrong because my Pro account was deleted and my email address erased. I didn’t find this out until I swapped devices and went to run it on my new device. My old screen was out so I had no way to read anything off it. With no way to get any support I was stuck to using the dubbed down free version when I already paid for my copy before they even had subscriptions offered. I’m not sure if they did this to everyone who had a pro Account or not. I purchased it when if you bought the desktop version the app was free. Of course it wasn’t for a few years before they even had an app.

How long ago was it that you purchased at that price?

There has in the past been some debate about whether CCleaner was ever sold as a ‘lifetime’ licence, despite what some websites said (and some still do).

The official reply at that time was that CCleaner has never been offered as more than a 3-year licence.
However some users noted that their very old pre-subscription licences, although no longer registered for support, had continued to work as Pro for years anyway - until they needed to reactivate CCleaner, (often because of a new machine).

There’s another question here though:
You have posted this in the 'CCleaner for Android" section.
Are you trying to use an old 1-PC key to activate CCleaner Android?
Had you actually managed to activate CCleaner for Android using such an old key?

I wouldn’t have thought that at all likely as you need a multi-device CCleaner Pro Plus or CCleaner Premium licence to be able to use your key with Android, and such an old key as you appear to have had would not be one of those, it would be for 1-PC only.

If you have posted in the wrong place then let me know and this thread can be moved into ‘CCleaner for Windows’.

Moving on:
This is a user forum. We do not have access to accounts/billing here.
However you can still contact support even without having a registered email - it will just take much longer to get a reply, see below.

You can raise a support ticket by using the form here: CCleaner Support Community
(Note do not try to change the language of that form, it has a bug and becomes unresponsive if you do that. If it happens then close and reopen your browser and try the form again without changing the language).

If the email that you use when sending your request to support is not showing as being registered to a current valid licence then you will not be seen as someone who has (currently) paid for support.

As an apparent ‘non-payer’ your request will be non-priority and it may be a very long time (month or more) before the computer even shows your request to a support person.

You will need to be patient.
Sending multiple requests will not help - in fact it will slow a response down because each time you send another they all get automatically collected together as ‘further information’ and sent to the back of the queue again.

When I purchased ccleaner it was for desktop at the time. Asking me to remember what year is an insane question. It was well over 10 years ago Im sure. Once the app was created and released we were allowed to put it on our phones for free. There was never anything about a limited license. All they did was add other programs like Pro + and ultimate and modify the user agreement to include subscriptions at a monthly rate now. The Pro was offered as a lifetime license. Pitform just realized they screwed themselves so they created other programs while silently removing accounts that paid for their product at an earlier price.

Thanks for that clarification.

When you purchased your CCleaner licence it was for 1-PC.

CCleaner for Android didn’t even exist back then.

You can put the free version of CCleaner for Android on any Android phone.

However you cannot expect a product license purchased years ago to cover one product (for however long) to cover you for new products as well.

If your want CCleaner Pro for Android then you can get a subscription through the Google Play Store - or you can get a multi-device Pro+ or Premium licence to activate CC for Android using that.

Personally here (I don’t work for CCleaner)
I have to say that I’m pretty amazed you seem to expect any licence for anything purchased over 10 years ago to be valid for products that did not even exist at that time.

PS. Does your (very) old licence still work on 1-PC?

When I purchased it, there was no limit to the devices to could use it on. Im sorry if you are too young to remember when you purchased something you owned it. I don’t want the free version and you defending their actions just shows that you don’t believe in open source or shareware and are probably employed by a corporation that banks off of ads.

When I bought Reason to do audio production that license is good for life, so you’re God damn right I expect when I buy something I own it.

I don’t even use a PC anymore.

Again, I’m sorry if you don’t remember how things were before this covid and woke crap. I think it may have damaged your thinking process.

LOL, I’m 65 so remember the things you talk about well.

Oh and when I was working I was an Engineering Designer/Draughtsman, not marketing/sales.
(My forum ‘Nuke’ username was chosen when I was designing and detailing equipment for use at Sellafield nuclear site back in the 2000’s, using ‘CAD’ software).

I have plenty of open source and shareware/freeware, so wrong on that count too.

I do have old lifetime licenced software still running, in particular I have bought-outrignt AutoCad 2000i installed on a Windows 98SE PC which I still use occasionally.
You could buy Autocad outright back then, nowdays it is subscription only.

However I would not expect Autodesk to give me a licence/subscription for the latest version of Autocad now just because I purchased their software over 25 years ago,
Any such expectation would be ridiculous.

(BTW, That Win 98 PC of course has lots of older software at older versions installed, I wouldn’t expect any of them to simply give me a new, free, licence for newer versions on my newer computers ad other devices).

You own (owned?) the CCleaner licence that you bought back in the day.
Expecting it to always cover you for newer versions or newer product, particular for an entirely different device with a different Operating System, is frankly just being unreasonable.
(You seem to have been infected by the selfish thinking of the current ‘I’m entitled, me me, me’ generation).

Things change and you have to keep up with those changes, both the ones you think are good ones and the ones you thing are bad ones.
You can’t keep living back in the ‘good old days’ however much you would like to do that.

PS. I guess that in the eyes of the ‘me, me, me’ generation we will both be just a couple of grumpy old gits.
