Several days ago I downloaded and ran CCleaner for the 1st time. I saved a backup file as any knowledgeable person knows should. Well, I can startup my computer and log in but cannot open anything (screen flashes and goes back to desktop), and when I mean anything I mean anything. I have no access to any files or folders. I'm running XPhome SP2, anyone with any idea of what has happened and how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.
Perhaps try to access System Restore somehow, either in Normal mode or Safe Mode. If Normal mode doesn't work try to do it in Safe Mode.
If none of the Start Menu links are showing try to access a Run box by pressing on the keyboard: Windows logo key + the R (at the same time), then input into the Run box and hit enter to load System Restore:
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
If you can open taskmanager check to see if explorer.exe is running, if not re-start it
I always find it "amusing" that people will try to blame software for their computer problems. I know some are legit, but I remember that other guy who stated that CCleaner was to blame, but I believe it was something in his registry that screwed it up. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but since the majority of people that use the program have no problems, it seems to always be something else that causes their computers to screw up.
