www.shorpy.com (any old pic)

Click "View Hi-Def Image".

You'll be treated to a TIFF. Up, down, left, & right scrolling.

And it IS a fantastic site.

Just a thought but perhaps there could be a "How too" section on the forum that you could go to if you need help,or people could leave top tips in peforming certain computer tasks That would perhaps help people without having to keep asking for assistance,I know that I have been helped by this forum a lot,but sometimes if I`ve forgotton how to do something I end up trying to find the thread !!

Just an idea

@ Kroozer

I find jpg is twice the size of gif,

but I was using the default compressions that are given by WinSnap,

which is a small 160 KB Portable application which allows keyboard short-cut launch and selection of any window or part of the screen.

@ Redhawk

My only interest was in taking screen shots of computing issues,

and 256 colours was more than adequate for a screen shot displaying CCleaner analysis results.

The default compressions of WinSnap all gave a perfect rendition for my purpose,

so I chose the most compact type, the gif.

I am happy to accept that for any sort of digital display of an analogue view then gif is inferior.

OK, now I see why your sizes were so disproportionate.

All my saves were from Paint, as in my post #1.

+1 They could call it WikiPiri, or PC Tricks for Dummies, etc. :D

The forum is blessed with many geeks. We all could share in their knowledge.
