Pls. Help.. I don't know what to delete in Registry

I have just ran CCleaner today, and clicked on Analyze. CCleaner suggested 1200.4 mb files to be removed and I'm not sure which files to remove. I have attached the log file. Please help. I'm having problems with my sound card. I have already ran a system restore, and re-installed the correct sound driver but the sound disappeared when I restarted my dell laptop. Another forum suggested I ran CCleaner stating my registry is corrupted and which I did. Please help me with the log file.

Looks like your using Windows XP? I didnt see anything of value in that log. Seems like all cookies, flash cookies, and tons of temp files from installs etc. By all means... Clean.

As for the registry. CC dosent repair the registry, but instead prunes the obsolete items from it. You can try it, but I cant imagine it would solve the sound problem.

What kind of sound card do you have and did you try to reload the drivers for it?

Thank you for answering my queries about the Registry log file. My sound card is a Crystal WDM Audio. I found the original sound driver from Dell's website and installed it from that site. It worked for a while. The funny thing is whenever I turn it off overnight and turn it on again the next day, the sound disappears again and I have to reinstall the driver again and sometimes it successfully installs sometimes it doesn't. This has been happening for almost two weeks now. I keep on reinstalling my sound driver and as soon as I have been working long on my laptop, I will hear static sounds on my headset, this will tell me the sound will disappear again. So I don't know what's wrong. Other than that, all the rest of my softwares, applications and etc are working fine, except the sound problems. Could you tell me what's wrong. I greatly appreciate your help. GOD bless.

Its hard to say exactly what the cause is. It would seem that your system is losing its configuration. Are you using Windows Defender or a similar security application that me be preventing changes from being made to the system (registry)?

Which edition of Windows are you using?

I am using a Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 2, Intel Pentium III, Mobile CPU 1000MHZ, 996 MHz, 256 of RAM.

Could it be that its because when the laptop becomes too hot, that was the time my headset had static on it and the sound suddenly disappears?

Sometimes when I check the performance on the task manager the PF usage goes way beyond 300 mb?

By the way, I have AVG 8.5 but un-installed it because its using too much memory, my computer hangs when I used it together with IE.

Please help. It happens on and off.

If the problem was not happening for very long you might be able to use system restore to go back to a time when you know it was working. Otherwise Im still looking/researching for a cause and solution.

Also, what is the make/model of your Dell. I am going to browse around thier forum and see what I can find out.

Lastly, are you powering off or going into hibernate?

I have a Dell C610 Latitude. I thank you for staying with this problem. I don't have my sounds again. And I checked the sound and audio device window and once again the volume, sounds and audio tabs are all greyed out. This will only come back if I download the sound driver again which sometimes a message states: "The driver is not successfully installed.." So I have to remove them then restart then install again and it comes back then after usually an hour of using it, I hear static on my headset then the sound will just disappear. I usually turn my computer off (totally unplugged the laptop) when I go to sleep at around 8PM in the evening and turn it on again at 8:00 am in the morning.

By the way, I actually did system restore several times now during the past two weeks when I was having this problem just to get back the sounds, and it does get the sound back, although the problem reappears as soon as I stay long using my laptop...

I found a newer driver than whats avail on Dell's web site. Try this driver located here:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CAR...613104159.shtml

Disregard the Latitude model as this driver also services the 6xx series for Crystal Audio.

Thank you very much. I will give it a try as soon as the problem appears again. Strangely, this past two days, I have not been having the problem since I ran CCleaner. Could the problem have been removed together with what I have deleted when I ran CCleaner. So I will have the information you have given me and park it for awhile and use the driver you have recommended. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the quiet of my laptop as of now. I am sincerely grateful for your assistance.

Sincerely yours,
