Whatever you used to take the pics Lesley, does it contain a memory card? If it was a camera, I'm sure it does.
Even if you deleted the pics from the camera, the memory card is like a drive, and if you can remove it and stick it into a card reader, or a USB adapter, Recuva can scan it for deleted files.
