Password cleaning

I am ONLY using Firefox.

ccleaner cleans all browsers. I want to have all cookies and ALL passwords deleted from all browsers EXCEPT Firefox

If I click the passwords on edge, or chrome or whatever, will it ONLY clean the passwords on those browsers (no matter how they got there.)???

I do not want to risk having passwords also deleted on Firefox.

I want to make sure, because I have really had so many problems with ccleaner doing all kinds of things, I do not want it do. None of these problems existed, as long as it was possible to install ccleaner 508... NONE!

It will only clear what you tell it to clear.

If you want to be doubly sure then make a backup of your logins/passwords in Firefox, its easy to do.

Firefox menu>Passwords>3-dots menu>Export passwords.

Or go into each of the other browsers and delete your passwords there rather than using CCleaner to do it.

PS. Personally if I didn't trust a software, any software, to do what I told it to and nothing else (or didn't know how to use it properly) then I'd stop using it.

Thank you nukehead... this is exactly what I meant with version 508. I know exactly what it does on teh Win7 computer, no more and no less, than what I want it to do, but...

Of course that is nothing that one can earn money with, I understand. It is the basic problem with software. A good, well-functioning software alwayss destroys its own business model. But I am happy to say, there are a few of those around, but ccleaner ist not one them... Take registry cleaning in 508 and 621. In 508 I simply delete everthing and never had a problem. With 621 I was more careful, and yet, I still had a huge problem getting my compouter to work the next morning. I had to install to an earlier restore point, but then was fine again. That also eliminated ccleaner completely ?

Updates are improvements, but... improvements for the user or the company?

Well you have to remember that Windows 7 is End-of-Life and no longer supported, most new apps and updates will not even consider it.

Most new software/versions will no longer be tested with Win7, you can't really expect software developers to cater for what is an officially obsolete Windows version.

(If it is tested then it's probably just a case of '<em>will it run at all on Win7?</em> and nothing more").

So as with any old OS and new or updated software it's 'use/try at your own risk'.

I've got an old 98SE machine that I use occasionally, I wouldn't even dream of trying to update anything that's on there or install any new software.

See... that is exactly what I am writing about... People like you are simply businessmen, and if it is useful, you will of course lie... About one hour ago I installed the security up dates and the monthly roll ups that was provided by Microsoft as Win7 March Update. I am sure, not even you are so stupid not to know that Win 7 is very well supported by MS, and the support might very well be extended in November once again

I admit, my problems two days ago were my mistake. I knew better than to install any newer version of ccleaner again, and I still tried, as it has one (!) function, that actually is very useful I will find a substitute for it...

"People like me" are users like yourself. I do not work for CCleaner.

As for Windows 7 being end of life: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-7-support-ended-on-january-14-2020-b75d4580-2cc7-895a-2c9c-1466d9a53962

Are you using a buisness computer? As far as I am aware the only security updates included in todays (12th March 2024) Patch Tuesday updates for any Win7 version were for those with Windows Embedded Standard 7 on the 4th year of Extended Security Updates.
