open office question

ok, i have office 2007 on my computer, but it expires in about 3 months unless i upgrade. so i am curious as to what are the equivalents for openoffice.

i use excel, word, publisher mainly. the occasional power point. and i was wondering if they have a front page equivalent.

i looked on their site, but didnt see the answer. can individual components be installed?

Open office has equivalents of all of those programs. Word is Writer, Excell is Calc, Powerpoint is Presentation, and Draw is probably like Publisher.

You just have to make sure you save your files in MS type files. (.doc, .ppt, ect)

(don't download it yet untill you see my PM..)

I'd just like to make one change to what you said. Draw is not a replacement for publisher. They are not even close in function. OO does not currently have an application that is similair to Publisher, mainly because MS Office does not allow backwards compatablity with their file formats. There is, however, a freeware application that many have been pleased with that will allow 'publisher-like' functions called Scribus. See it here.

I have scribus.

I thought it was more like Adobe's program(can't remember the name.. ).
