Open CCleaner (recycle bin) delay

A few months ago, there was a thread discussing a situation of a very (very) long time for CCleaner to actually appear on-screen after opening the application. However, the thread never suggested a resolution other than returning to a much older version.

For the last 3 revisions of the application, I have been experiencing the same issue--about 10 to 15 minutes before CCleaner displays on-screen when opening from the Recycle Bin (although the process shows immediately on the list of processes in the Windows Task Manager).

Enviroment: Windows XP Pro SP3, Dell PowerEdge Server P4 at 2.26GHz on an router-controlled Ethernet network with IP network storage. Browser: Firefox 2 and 3 (currently 3)

I do run ZoneAlarms (with all Windows security off), but the same delay happens with it disabled, and with the network storage removed.

Since this is not reported by multiple users, there must be something unique about my configuration (and the user from the earlier thread), and if the Piriform staff needs more info from me, I am happy to supply it!

Thanks for any advice, Saul Krimsly.

I forgot to mention that CCleaner process (listed as CCleaner.exe in the 'Processes' pane on the Windows Task Manager) uses fro 5 to 15 percent of the CPU capacity during the whole time it is running hidden (before the application window appears on the desktop)...then the CPU percent returns to 0 once it appears.

BTW, this time it took just 5 minutes to display on screen, so the window-opening seems variable. Saul Krimsly

It appears almost instantaneously on my 2.8GHZ 768MB RAM XP Pro SP3 system running IE7 with IE7Pro.

How much RAM does the system have?

What other applications are you running?

By the way, Firefox has become memory hungry lately.

It's not hardware memory (2 gb installed) or application hogging (no applications running, except for normal services), and you confirm that few users experience this issue. Oh well, I don't think this will be solved unless Piriform gets really curious:) Saul Krimsly.

Even my slow 500MHZ PIII with 512MB RAM running XP Pro SP3 does not have a problem that I am posting this with.
