Ooo looky! Corona!

Hi gang. Been elsewhere lately. But yesterday I made the leap. The leap from an HP Pavillion9895 beast, WindowsME native (eventually updated to XP SP1,2,3), steampunk 512 Rambus, an nVidea card that hasn't been supported since 2004, a sound card that hasn't been supported since 2002, and a system delay that caused Firefox to load in 30 seconds, and defrags.<br />Not!.........anymore!!<br />(looks at Speccy...)<br />Operating System<br />MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit<br />CPU AMD Phenom II X4 830 (2.8 Ghz) 89 ?F<br />Deneb 45nm Technology<br />RAM 6.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)<br />Motherboard FOXCONN 2AB1 (CPU 1)<br />Graphics VA2026w @ 1680x1050<br />ATI Radeon HD 4200<br />Hard Drives 977GB Western Digital / SATA Disk Device (IDE)<br />Optical Drives hp DVD-RAM GH60L SATA CdRom Device (R/W DVD)<br />Audio Realtek High Definition Audio<br /><br />Sweeeet. Now I can generate fractals in 90 minutes instead of 8 hours. Problem?...not many fractal generators out there that run on 64 bit. &quot;D'oh!&quot; <br />But it's nice that FF and Photoshop launch in 1 to 2 seconds instead of my old &quot;I'll have a ciggy &amp; come back&quot; option. I also bought a tiny $40 speaker set that blows choads off my old speakers. More sweeeeet. <img src='http://forum.piriform.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://forum.piriform.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />' />

Good to have you back! :)

 Hey! But look at all those < / > breaks! Wha happen? Is it because of 64 bit? I knew it would be evil.

may have been the forums, I've been using 64bit for a while with no issues

You know what it was? I copied & pasted directly from Speccy. That prolly included the breaks. <_< Oh well. No biggie.

Your setup is similar to mine (same processor) except I have ddr2 ram and an ATI 5770 video card.(aero runs much faster on dedicated graphics, I tried the hd 4200 and its not bad for hd video but not much more). Its unreal how much faster these new computers are (and how relatively cheap they are).

I cant stand using old computers anymore after building my newest one. Its just annoying. :P

Good to see you back Corona.

We will now expect expert analysis on the use of Win7 64 bit

Nice to have you back, Corona!

I thought it was one of your cryptic posts. :)

It is nice to see you back. We were wondering.

:)

It doesn't change very much from Win7 32 bit, really :P

Strange how some games I played from Big Fish Games a few years ago ran soooooo sloooooow on my old beast or not properly, now don't work because my newer pooter is too strong. <_< Can't please everybody.

64 bit is nice.

Trouble is, most software today is written for 32 bit.

Will take time to convert everyone over.

Hopefully by then, we will have 128 bit computing.

Or even 256 bit.

Not that we really need it yet, of course,
