Why can't I just recover pictures when doing deep scan? I reformatted my c drive and I know that I can still recover files after that but when I run a deep scan it wan't to take 24 hours (1 day) that's just nuts!
Any ideas?
Added : To explain further when I check pictures , it still scans , everything else as well, I think that's why it is taking so long, I don't need to recover anything except some pic.
Deep scan makes Recuva check every byte of your hard drive this process is painfully slow for large drives.

I would think when you check pictures you would only be scanning for pictures, ie: .jpg etc, but I guess not?Maybe in the future Piriform will make this possible
Deleted files usually leaves traces behind on the file system making their detection and recovery easy unfortunately a formatted drive destroys this information.
In Deep scan mode Recuva must read the entire disk looking for signatures that match known file formats this is painfully slow but the only effective method of recovery.

Selecting to scan for pictures, seems to be only a filter for the results. Regardless of what you choose to scan for, Recuva scans for all possible file types it can detect. Then displays those file types that you wanted to recover.
