What does the Driver Updater want to tell me with this number?

It's just telling you how many drivers it thinks could be updated on your machine.
It's your choice if you want to do that or not.
(Personally I ignore driver updater altogether - but have a read through this sub-forum and make your own mind up)

when I start the search no new driver is found.
Ah I see.
It looks like a display glitch, I do note that there is a blue tick showing as well even though it says '0' and isn't showing any particular driver.
I'd try the 'Scan Again' button and if it doesn't change i'd just ignore it.
You could try the 'Update All' button - but that's a risk as you don't know just what it might update.
If it has found a driver to update then it should be showing you what it has found.
I'll point the staff to this post so that the developers can take a look.
