Documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) claim to show that US telco AT&T allowed the National Security Agency (NSA) to set up a 'secret room' in its offices to monitor internet traffic.
The documents were handed over as part of an EFF legal case against AT&T for alleged violation of user privacy. The US government has asked the courts to dismiss the case, claiming that the lawsuit could expose state secrets.
"The district court rejected the government's attempt to sweep this case under the rug," said EFF senior staff attorney Kurt Opsahl.
"This country has a long tradition of open court proceedings, and we are pleased that, as we present our case to the Court of Appeals, the millions of affected AT&T customers will be able to see our arguments and evidence and judge for themselves."
I don't really like that they were doing this secretly but they could pretty much already see everything that we do anyway(the ISPs anyway).
I want privacy and I don't really want to sacrifice privacy to get it but.. if the government knowing I go on the internet to listen to music, do research for school, help people fix computers, read news, and buy stuff keeps everyone safe then I'm all for it
When they start publically posting people surfing habits or stealing their cc numbers then I'll worry but until then I don't really care.
Woohoo lets put or head in the sand and act like there aren't people trying to kill us! If we leave them alone surely they will leave us alone right?
Yeah I vote for that plan.

Plus I don't use AT&T.
I don't think that Ron Paul is the best candidate, but nonetheless he has a lot more respect for what this country was founded on than say, the current administration. I don't think that it's putting your head in the sand and pretending there are no problems in the world - it's saying that they aren't completely our business! We're in an unjustified war, and it's getting worse as time goes on, and Ron Paul is just one of the candidates that will make a positive impact.
I don't understand why you're not worried - you have something granted to you by law being taken away, and all you can show is apathy. That's scary, if anything.
